Lightning Whale

(1) Main Design Concept

The core form of the installation is chosen to be a whale. The whale is a highly representative creature in the ocean, with a spacious and majestic body shape, carrying an air of freedom and gentleness. It is in harmony with the waterfront environment. The overall design adopts a round and smooth biomimetic streamlined shape, without sharp edges, balancing visual appeal with public safety; the entire structure is supported by four giant columns suspended in the air, simulating the whale's swimming posture in the sea, and the suspended structure reserves ground passage space, facilitating tourists to walk around and take photos, and significantly improving the utilization rate of the venue space.
Expanding the size to create a giant sculpture, relying on the large size to create a strong visual impact, firmly capturing the viewer's attention in the open square environment, naturally adapting to scenarios such as cultural tourism squares, waterfront parks, and urban night tour districts.

(II) Lighting System Design

The entire device is equipped with a dense array of LED light beads. It simulates the texture of a whale's skin with a star-like pattern. During the day, the light beads are hidden beneath the structural surface, presenting a simple sculptural texture; at night, they illuminate and transform into a star-like whale, achieving two different landscape forms - day and night.
The color scheme adopts a **rainbow gradient design**, starting from rose red and warm orange at the head, gradually transitioning to yellow-green and cyan-blue along the body, and ending with a dreamy purple-blue at the tail. The eyes are designed with a high-contrast circular light ring, enhancing the lively expression. An intelligent lighting control system is installed, enabling various modes such as light gradient movement, star twinkling, rhythmic breathing, and static color fixation. The dynamic changes of light and shadow at night give the static sculpture a lively vitality.
The lamps are selected with outdoor waterproof specifications. The steel structure framework is combined with an anti-corrosion outer layer, which can adapt to the harsh outdoor environments such as coastal dampness and wind and rain, ensuring long-term stable use.

(III) Site Implementation Plan

The device is located on a waterfront open square, with a circular and stable base that has strong bearing capacity and can accommodate a large number of people gathering. Surrounding it are spherical lighting structures, marine-themed display boards, and landscape streetlights, all unified with the marine art style, forming a thematic landscape group.
The site reserves a wide pedestrian area, organizes smooth pedestrian flow lines, takes into account the needs of viewing, taking photos, and passing through, and balances the artistic appreciation and the practicality of public areas, creating an open public viewing space for all.
